Each year, the dictionary adds new words to its collection.  Whether they’ve been used a certain amount of times, or have just entered common language, there’s no limit to the absurdity of what can be included.  Here, we’ll take a look at some of the funniest pop culture sayings that slipped in to the dictionary.

Gandhi’s Top 10 Fundamentals for Changing the World

Recently, I watched the movie “Gandhi” starring Ben Kingsley.  It was as if the movie kept beckoning me since many of the motivational speakers and authors I frequently listen to and read, speak of this extraordinary man whom I knew so little about.  He was at one time a prominent attorney until he gave it all up to serve others.  I highly recommend the movie as well if you haven’t seen it.   He is one of the most influential people of all time because of his passion and service for the greater good.  Gandhi is a universal symbol for persistance, focus, and humility.   continue reading…

Rejection is always a difficult thing to face in life, whether it’s from a potential client, a potential boss or a potential home seller. As a Tampa home buyer, your stress level may be reduced if you’re aware of some of the reasons a seller may flat-out reject your Offer to purchase their real estate.

Sometimes, even if you and your Realtor do everything right, the seller may still reject your Offer. Bear in mind that this often has nothing to do with you.

With that being said, here are 5 common reasons why sellers reject Offers on their homes:

1. The Offer wasn’t enough for them to pay off their mortgage. For most sellers, the bottom line is paying off their mortgage. If your Offer isn’t enough to cover the mortgage, they cannot accept it unless they and their bank agree to a short sale. Many sellers have not quite gotten to the point of accepting the possibility of short selling their property. continue reading…

Since November 2008 at the time of HVCC’s inception, I’ve been awaiting its demise. “This too shall pass” have been words of wisdom passed down for generations. Last Thursday’s passage of legislation makes sweeping changes to the nation’s financial regulatory system.  HR 4173, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act includes the first modernization of real estate appraisal regulations in more than 20 years. This act provides grant funding for state oversight and enforcement of those regulations.

Lauren’s Kids was founded by child abuse victim, survivor and educator Lauren Book-Lim. The organization educates adults and children about sexual abuse topics through an in school curriculum, a 24-hour Crisis Hotline and speaking engagements around the country. The ultimate goal is to raise funds for the creation of a Crisis Center for Children and their families coping with the aftermath of sexual abuse.
